Really FREE VPN

Hello hello!
That’s a review of one of my old post…updated!
To start, what’s a VPN?
AVirtual Private Network, or VPN, is a technology that creates a secure and encrypted connection over the internet. All the data transmitted between your device and the internet is protected from unauthorized access. A VPN is essential for anyone who values their online privacy and security.
When you use a VPN, your internet traffic and IP address are encrypted and hidden from prying eyes. This makes it difficult for anyone, including internet service providers, hackers, and government agencies, to track your online activities. With a VPN, you can browse the web with peace of mind, knowing your online activities are private and secure.
VPNs are also useful for accessing geo-restricted content. For example, if you’re traveling abroad and want to access a streaming service only available in your home country, a VPN can help you bypass the location restrictions.
Another benefit of using a VPN is that it protects your data when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks. Public Wi-Fi networks are often unsecured, meaning anyone on the same network can access your data. With a VPN, your data is encrypted, making it difficult for anyone to intercept and read your online communications.
It’s worth noting that there are diverse uses for VPNs and that not all VPNs are created equal. A free VPN can be a good option if you’re not planning to engage in illegal activities online. However, consider a paid VPN service if you’re looking for more robust security and privacy features.
Finding an honest and unbiased review of a “truly free” VPN service can be tricky. As a result, I have decided to update and rewrite one myself as of January 2024.
OPENVPN
OpenVPN is a robust and secure system designed to create virtual private network (VPN) connections between two points, regardless of their physical location. Whether connecting to a remote server or bridging two different networks, OpenVPN offers a range of configuration options to meet your specific needs.
To ensure complete security, OpenVPN relies on the OpenSSL encryption library and the TLS protocol, which provide robust encryption and authentication mechanisms. Additionally, OpenVPN includes many advanced features for controlling and managing connections, including support for dynamic IP addresses, multi-factor authentication, and advanced routing options.
Features
Encryption: OpenVPN utilizes the OpenSSL library to encrypt data and control channels.
Authentication: OpenVPN provides various types of authentication, including pre-shared keys, certificate-based authentication, and username/password-based authentication.
Networking: OpenVPN can be run over User Datagram Protocol (UDP) or Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) transports. It can multiplex SSL tunnels on a single TCP/UDP port.
Support for embedding TLS: It’s worth noting that the support for embedding TLS is available from version 2.31 onwards.
IPv6 Support: Starting from the 2.3.x series, OpenVPN now fully supports IPv6 as a protocol for the virtual network inside a tunnel. Additionally, the OpenVPN application is also able to establish connections via IPv6.
Cons
Requires additional software client: OpenVPN does not have built-in support in any platform, whether Linux or Windows. A client program must connect with the OpenVPN tunnel and decrypt the returned data.
Intricate manual configuration: Configuring an OpenVPN server can be a complicated task that involves manual setup.
Increased latency: OpenVPN’s use of various overheads can increase latency.
OpenVPN was created by James Yonan to offer a secure and adaptable solution for networking. It is an open-source software, meaning it is distributed under the GNU General Public License version 2 (GPLv2) and can be used, modified, and distributed by anyone, free of charge. Additionally, paid services are available for those who require enhanced performance.

However, it’s worth noting that the United States is a member of the 5 Eyes Alliance, a multinational intelligence alliance. Also, Urban VPN is a P2P (peer-to-peer) network, which means that you can take advantage of the additional bandwidth of other Urban VPN users.
